Passmore Reflects on First Five Event of 2004; Looks Ahead to Remaining 17 Including This Weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway:
With five races complete in the 2004 ARCA RE/MAX season, Christi Passmore is focused on the remaining 17 in the season. While her finishes are not as high on the charts as she would like, she is well aware that her competitiveness is higher and her racing knowledge is improving each weekend. Passmore has posted a finish equal to her career best of fifth along with three top ten qualifying positions to date this season. However those top ten and top five runs have tended to be overshadowed by the three DNF's that she and the team have experienced.
"This has just been one of those crazy seasons to this point," said Passmore. "We have had such strong runs at almost every track and then we get struck by some type of bad luck whether it is a freak mechanical problem or being taken out by another car. Our team has remained positive through everything because we all know that we are capable of strong finishes and we were able to prove that at Kentucky when we finished fifth. Now that the season is getting into full swing I hope our luck will keep getting better so we can improve the results in the finish column."
Passmore's Thoughts on Lowe's Motor Speedway and This Week's Quaker Steak & Lube 100:
"Lowe's Motor Speedway was not a track that I was terribly comfortable on last season," said Passmore. "But we brought two cars here to test last week and I was able to make a bunch of laps through the evening. While I wasn't the fastest at the end of the night, I felt a lot more comfortable in how I was getting around the track."
"I had some decent runs at Lowe's last season," said Passmore. "But maybe this year I can use some of my lessons from the test to capitalize and get a top ten finish before we head to my home track in Kansas."
Let the Busy Season Begin:
Passmore and her race team are beginning their busy time of year with this week's event in Charlotte, North Carolina. This will mark the second of nine straight weeks of racing coupled with five or more test sessions in between. From Charlotte the team will head to St. Louis for a test session before their next event on June 5 at Kansas Speedway.
Christi Passmore Racing to Host Special Guests at Lowe's Motor Speedway:
The Christi Passmore Racing Team will host ten special guests during the Quaker Steak & Lube 100 event at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Two families involved with the Believe in Tomorrow National Children's Foundation will join the team in hopes of bringing luck to the team and smiles to the critically ill children's faces. The children will tour the ARCA RE/MAX garage, have lunch with the CPR race team and take a couple laps around the track with series champion, Frank Kimmel. Prior to the running of the race on Thursday evening, the children will place their handprints on the No. 91 G.A.P./Royal Trading Company Ford. The families will then watch the event from the grandstands with tickets generously provided by Speedway Children's Charities.
