KNUPP RETURNS TO ARCA TRUCK SERIES AT ELDORA
(6/2/06 - Sidney, OH) - It's not hard to figure out that when you pair the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series with the . 5 mile dirt oval of Eldora Speedway together you're going to get excitement and that's exactly what ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Brandon Knupp of Sidney, Ohio is looking for.
Knupp will return to the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series for the first time in nearly three years, where he captured the Rookie of the Year honors in 2002. In 23 career ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck starts Brandon has 5 Top-5 finishes and 20 Top-10's. The ARCA truck race at Eldora will be the third different type of car in which Brandon has competed in 2006; the Rumble Car Midget Series at Fort Wayne, Indiana, the USAC Midgets at the Chili Bowl in Tulsa, Oklahoma as well as the ARCA RE/Max Series tour.
Brandon will also be promoting the Racin' For A Livin' competition in which he has been selected one of the Top-50 drivers out of over 1600 submission for the competition and is currently ranked 3rd on the voting leaderboard.
"When I heard the ARCA trucks were going to Eldora I knew I wanted to be part of it, it's Eldora, it's dirt, it's fast and it's fun, I'm there." Said Knupp, "We talked to a couple of truck teams at Kentucky and there didn't seem to be anything available, so I didn't think I was going to get the chance to run this race." Brandon added, "We made a couple of phone calls today and ended up in the #5 truck for Eldora. I'm really excited about this race and I can't wait to get on that race track."
Brandon will be at the wheel of the most recent winning, #5 Pate Manufacturing Chevrolet, for owner, A. J. Pate, which took the victory at Kentucky Speedway on May 13.
The ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series event will be held in conjunction with the NEXTEL Prelude to the Dream, a late model event in which 15 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup stars will take to the track. The activities will kick off Wednesday June 7 at 6:00 PM when ARCA and NEXTEL drivers rotate practice sessions. 6:40 PM will be NEXTEL Qualifying, with NEXTEL heat races and ARCA Qualifying set to begin at 7:30 PM, the 50-Lap ARCA event and NEXTEL Prelude to the Dream will follow.
