Venturini Eyes Season Opener Victory With New Team Sponsors
Veteran Crew Chief Troy Selberg Joins No.25 Team
Daytona, Florida (February 9, 2005) --For ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Billy Venturini, Daytona International Speedway is another chance to shine. One of the namesakes of the ARCA series returns to the 2.5 mile Superspeedway looking to jump start his season by taking his new sponsors and crew chief to victory lane in the Advanced Discount Auto Parts 200.J J Joining Venturini Motorsports is veteran NASCAR crew chief Troy Selberg. Selberg took over crew chief responsibilities in mid January. "We feel Troy gives our team the best shot of winning this year. Troy's leadership and vast racing experience has already proven to be a winning combination with our team," says Bill Venturini.
The addition of Selberg could very well be the missing link to Venturini Motorsports 2005 success.
Last December, Venturini Motorsports proudly announced the signing of Central Merchant Services as their primary sponsor and ReadyHosting.com as their major associate sponsor for the 2005 season. For Venturini, 2005 will be a season where he feels the championship could be within his grasp.
2004 was another positive season for the North Carolina based operation. In 22 events, Venturini captured an impressive 6 top-five finishes, while capturing 12 top-10 finishes enroute to a fourth place finish in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Point Standings.
"We're ready for Daytona," said the driver of the familiar No.25, Billy Venturini. b^0x001cWe've worked hard the entire off-season and added a great group of sponsors; we have more momentum going into this season than any other in the past."
Sponsors have played a significant role in the success of the Venturini team, and this season is no different. "We are very thankful to have Central Merchant Services and ReadyHosting.com on-board with us this season. We worked with both sponsors last season and feel extremely fortunate to have them both back for our 2005 season.
As for Daytona, it can be bad news for the other 40 drivers who are expected to compete in Saturday's event. Venturini boasts one of the cleanest and impressive records around the Superspeedway. Last season after starting in the rear, Venturini pulled some veteran moves and used his young talent to finish a well-earned third place finish, behind Hendrick Motorsports' Kyle Busch.
Venturini has been strong at Daytona during his career, qualifying on the outside pole in 2002 and 2003 and earning back-to-back third place race finishes in 2003 and 2004.
"Daytona is definitely one of my favorite tracks," continued the third generation driver. "We've always been able to stay out of trouble and put on a good show. I think we'll have another strong package this week and should everything go our way, hopefully, and finally we'll pull that No.25 machine into Victory Lane."
The Advance Discount Auto Parts 200 is the first of 23 events on the 2005 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. Practice begins Thursday, February 10th with a morning and afternoon session planned. Qualifying is on tap for Friday, February 11th, with the race set to take the green flag Saturday February 12th, at 4:00pm EST.
