Matt Carter Heads North For Saturday Night Short Track Racing
Statesville, NC (07-24-2008) Matt Carter and the No. 46 Stine Seed Ford Fusion team are packing things up and heading north to Berlin Raceway for some good old fashioned Saturday night short track action. The .4375 mile paved oval is home to local late model racing but will open its doors to host the Berlin ARCA RE/MAX 200.
This event will mark the twelfth race of the season for the third place series points driver Matt Carter. Although this is his first time taking the pavement at Berlin Raceway, his expectations are that of short tracks alike. "It should be a typical short track race", said Carter. "I expect a lot of cautions, beating and banging, and good hardnosed racing."
Carters' past racing experience resides in the backyard of short tracks from being a veteran driver of the Hooters Pro Cup series. Therefore, when Carter shows up at speedways, such as Berlin, his expectations are nothing less than victory lane. "Up until this year in the ARCA RE/MAX series, all I have ever raced was short tracks", said Carter. "I expect to win; I expect to win every week, but definitely on the short tracks."
The Larry Clement racing stable will be bringing the same piece of equipment to Berlin that they raced at Salem, Toledo, and Cayuga. "The car is really old and outdated but we can make it turn and run fast", said Carter. "At the short tracks it's not all about horsepower like at the speedways and superspeedways. It's about what the driver and the crew can do at the track - not about the money."
