DiCarlo Has Promising Run Comes To Early End
Marne, MI (July 27, 2008) - Gabi DiCarlo and new crew chief Randy Nelson seemed to have been working together as a team for the whole season as the Great Clips Race Team unloaded a very fast racer at Berlin Raceway. In only their second run together the duo had the Chevrolet Monte Carlo on the verge of a top ten starting position.
"This is the best we have looked all season, the car was fast from the first lap around the track," said Doug Stringer owner of Stringer Motorsports "I can't wait to give Randy the time to get the rest of our cars back in order."
Unfortunately for the team the bad racing luck that has followed the team all season reared its ugly head as Gabi was on what was clearly one of her best laps. The car broke loose coming out of turn three and the second year driver backed into the wall. The day was all but over at that point as the newly reconstructed team was forced to go to a back up car that is not meant to be a short track racer.
"We have cars that really needed some attention and unfortunately we ran out of time," Said newly hired crew chief Randy Nelson "this team has some great equipment and will be as competitive as any out here."
The team was forced to settle for a 27th starting position and was out of the race early finishing 29th.
Pocono Raceway is next up on the schedule for the Great Clips Team and with cars back at the shop and ready to go this team could be verge of a mid season push for the top ten in the points standings.
