HAMPTON, Ga. (MSPS) - It was the closest finish in Automobile Racing Club of America history - 0.023-seconds.

And the spread between second and third was even less.

Harris DeVane, a peanut farmer from Cuthbert, Ga., won his first ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde series event in Saturday's Reese's 400 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway by taking a chance on there being three lanes between turn four and the finish line.

His chance paid off as he defeated Frank Kimmell - who was just feet behind DeVane's Ford at the stripe - and Andy Hillenburg in a dramatic, three-wide finish.

As the trio exited the final turn with the checkers in sight, DeVane slipped to the inside of Kimmel while Hillenburg attempted to go to the leader's high side. As they approached the finish DeVane bobbled but was able to hold on to his car to the flag.

Kimmell got the nose of his Chevrolet back in front of Hillenburg by only a couple of feet at the finish to claim second place, leaving Hillenburg in third.

The dramatic finish was set up earlier when Gary Laton cut a right-front tire while leading and wound up against the wall. This brought out a yellow flag with only eight laps remaining in the 162-lap event.

When the course returned to green-flag conditions only two circuits remained. Kimmell got the early jump and appeared headed toward victory before the last-minute showdown.

The top five finishers in Saturday's Reese's 400 were:

 1. Harris DeVane 162 laps
 2. Frank Kimmell 162
 3. Andy Hillenburg 162
 4. Mike Ciochetti 162
 5. Mark Thompson 162
