NOTES OF INTEREST: The upcoming event has attracted the attention of some heavy hitters including NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader who has entered his own Chevrolet Monte Carlo with sponsorship from Federated Auto Parts. Schrader, a 7-time ARCA winner, is the defending race winner. 4 former ARCA champions are entered including 3-time champion Tim Steele, '98 champ Frank Kimmel, '99 champ Bill Baird and '88 champ Tracy Leslie who won last time out at Salem, his 9th career ARCA win. Additional entrants include ARCA point leader Kirk Shelmerdine who makes his first-ever Anderson Speedway appearance as well as 15-time winner Bob Strait in the Dauphin Technology Chevrolet. Strait is 2nd in points trailing Shelmerdine by just 10 markers heading to Anderson. Rookie Shawna Robinson, in the Mayfield/Kranefuss Kmart Ford, is tied for 3rd in points with rookie Brian Ross although Robinson leads Ross by 2 markers in the chase for the Prestone ARCA Rookie of the Year honors. Ross won the season-opener for the Kendall Indiana Late Model Series at Anderson back in April of this year. Joe Cooksey is currently 5th in points ahead of Baird, Leslie, Norm Benning, Bobby Gerhart and Cavin Councilor the top 10. Gerhart finished 2nd in this year's Daytona 500 and won the prestigious event in '99.
