ElectrifyingCareers.com is a website dedicated to educating the public about career opportunities in the electrical industry. It is a joint initiative of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC).
"Alli Owens has worked tirelessly to spread the message that the doors of opportunity are wide open in our industry and our union," said Edwin Hill, International President, IBEW. "We are proud to continue our relationship with her and look forward to a safe and successful racing season."
The 2009 season marks the third consecutive year that ElectrifyingCareers.com has supported Owens and her racing efforts. In addition to her racing, Owens makes numerous appearances at school, community, and industry events nationwide promoting the ElectrifyingCareers website and careers in the electrical construction industry.
"We have noticed a dramatic increase in interest since the sponsorship began in 2007," said John Grau, CEO, NECA. "Alli Owens is a wonderful spokesperson for our industry. We are honored to have a partnership with such a dynamic individual."
Owens began her racing career at age eight in BMX competition. She won the prestigious President's Cup and was headed toward a career on two-wheels when she had her first taste of four-wheel competition in 1999.
After a brief stint in quarter midgets, Owens began competing on the ½ mile clay oval at Volusia Speedway Park. She moved to the ½ mile asphalt oval at New Smyrna Speedway in 2004. Over the next three seasons, she competed in Late Model races throughout the southeast. Owens entered her rookie season in the ARCA RE/MAX Series in 2008.
"I can't thank the folks at NECA, IBEW and the NJATC enough for their continued support," said Owens. "They truly believe in me and that means so much. The bond I have with the men and women of the electrical industry is incredible. They have become a part of my family."
Owens and the ElectrifyingCareers.com team will make their on-track debut on December 19 when they participate in the ARCA RE/MAX Series three-day open test session at Daytona International Speedway.
