AURORA, Ill. (August 24, 2001) - Just one year after winning the Motocross des Nations, which is considered the 'Olympics' of motocross, in France, Team USA is back to defend their country in Namur, Belgium on Sept. 9.

Lead by Reigning EA SPORTS Supercross champion Ricky Carmichael, who, along with Travis Pastrana and Ryan Hughes, was a key member of last year's gold-winning team, Team USA has a solid line up.

Initially, Team USA intended on sending the same squad to Belgium, but injuries have forced Pastrana and Hughes to pass on this patriotic event. Replacing Pastrana on the 125cc machine will be his rival Mike Brown (Kawasaki) and replacing Hughes in the open class will be veteran Kevin Windham (Suzuki).

Historically, Team USA has always been the front-runner of the Motocross des nations, boasting 15 wins over 20 years, which included a 13-race winning streak that began in 1981 and ended in 1994.

At this year's EA SPORTS Supercross banquet, Clear Channel Entertainment made a monetary contribution to help support the riders on their circuit and their country.
