Yamaha's Reed Races to Ninth Win at Silverdome
Stewart Starts Perfect, Taking Home Sixth Win

PONTIAC, Mich. (April 3, 2004) - Yamaha's Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., won his ninth THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series race of the season at the Silverdome, extending his series points lead to 37. Kawasaki's James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., won his sixth 125cc Eastern Regional THQ AMA Supercross Series race.

Honda's Damon Huffman, of Valencia, Calif., earned the $1,500 Butterfinger Holeshot Award, his second on the season. Reed started mid pack, but worked his way around early leader Huffman on lap three. Honda's Mike LaRocco, who won last weekend in Indianapolis, moved into second place and battled with Yamaha's David Vuillemin until the last lap when Vuillemin struggled with some lap riders. LaRocco finished second and Vuillemin third.

"I came out and rode my own race tonight," said Reed. "I didn't have the best start but moved through the pack pretty good. Once I was in the lead, I just turned in some solid laps and went on for the win."

Stewart, who has never raced at the Silverdome before, earned the $1,000 Butterfinger Holeshot Award with KTM's Brett Metcalfe and Yamaha's Danny Smith following in second and third respectively. On lap four, Smith, of Middleton, Idaho, passed Metcalfe for third. Josh Hansen, who won his first-ever 125cc supercross last weekend in Indianapolis, passed his teammate Smith for second place. Suzuki's Davi Millsaps, of Cairo, Ga., started mid-pack and moved his way into third when the checkered flag fell. Hansen finished second and Millsaps third.

"This was a great race for me because I had the holeshot," said Stewart. "This is my last race until Las Vegas at the shootout, so I am looking forward to that."

This race concludes 125cc Eastern Regional THQ AMA Supercross Series competition. Riders in the 125cc Eastern Regional division will compete against the 125cc Western Regional riders in the Dave Coombs Sr. 125cc East/West Shootout at Las Vegas' Sam Boyd Stadium Saturday, May 1.
