Carmichael Finds Fifth Consecutive THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series Win

Millsaps Wins Opening 125cc Eastern Regional Race

INDIANAPOLIS (February 12, 2005) - Suzuki's Ricky Carmichael, of Havana, Fla., won his fifth consecutive THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series race at the RCA Dome in front of 52,833 fans. Suzuki's Davi Millsaps, of Cairo, Ga., won his first 125cc Eastern Regional THQ AMA Supercross Series race.

Yamaha's Erick Vallejo, of Garland, Texas, won the $1,500 Butterfinger Crisp Holeshot Award in the 250cc main event. One turn later, Carmichael moved into the lead and led every lap en route to his 38th career 250cc THQ AMA Supercross Series race. Defending THQ AMA Supercross Series champion Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., moved into second place on lap one and finished there. Honda's Kevin Windham, of Centerville, Miss., finished third.

"It was a big step in the right direction for me and my team," said Carmichael. "I have something to prove and I continue to do it week after week. It's not over and this isn't easy. I need to keep racing hard each week."

In the 125cc main event, Yamaha's Kelly Smith, of Ludington, Mich., earned the $1,000 Butterfinger Crisp Holeshot Award and led for the first three laps before getting passed by Kawasaki's Grant Langston, of Murrieta, Calif. After starting near fifth place, Millsaps passed Langston for the lead and held on for the victory. Langston finished second and KTM's Josh Hanson, of Elbert, Colo., finished third.

"I am going to use this momentum for the next race," said Millsaps. "I am so excited right now; I won this race in front of all of my family and friends and can't be any happier."

Racing moves on to San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium next Saturday, February 19. Tonight's race airs on ESPN2 Sunday, February 13 at Noon (EST).
