AURORA, Ill. (April 22, 2003) - Team Yamaha's Chad Reed, 21, brings a four-race win streak into Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City this weekend. Reed, who is a rookie in 250cc supercross competition, is second in the AMA Supercross Series season points standings to two-time defending champion Ricky Carmichael.

Reed, who wrapped up the THQ World Supercross GP championship in Pontiac, has won six races this season and has five podium finishes. The defending 125cc Eastern Regional AMA Supercross champion has led 135 laps to Carmichael's 134.

Leading by 13 points heading into Salt Lake City, Carmichael has seven wins and six additional podium appearances this season; he has only finished outside of the top three once this season. In addition, Carmichael is a two-time winner of Salt Lake City.

Honda's Carmichael and his teammate, Ernesto Fonseca, will be on hand for the pre-race press conference at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Thursday, April 24, from Noon-2:00 p.m. The two riders will ride and be available for interviews.

Also racing in Salt Lake City is Kawasaki's teenage star James Stewart, 17, of Haines City, Fla., who became the first African-American to win a 125cc Western Regional AMA Supercross championship when he clinched the title two weeks ago in Dallas. Stewart has won six of the seven races this season and won in Salt Lake City last season.

The final round of THQ World Supercross/AMA Supercross Series will air on ABC's Wide World of Sports Sunday, May 4 at 2:00-3:00 p.m. EST/3:00-4:00 p.m. PST.
