Stewart Struggles: Rookie James Stewart struggled at Round 14 of the 125cc Western Regional Supercross championship, crashing four times during the main event. Stewart, who came into Dallas with a 10-point lead over Travis Preston, now sits 10 points behind Preston with one round remaining. Consistency has been the key element to Preston's successful season. With only two wins compared to Stewart's three, he has finished in the top five at every race except Anaheim, Round 3. The Honda rider needs to finish fifth or better to win the championship this weekend.

Clinch Carmichael: Reigning EA SPORTS Supercross champion Ricky Carmichael, who has won nine 250cc main events this season, can keep his title in 2003 with a win in Salt Lake City. He now leads David Vuillemin by 27 points. In order to clinch the championship this weekend, he needs to win. The last time Honda won both the 125cc and 250cc supercross titles was in 1993 when Doug Henry (125cc) and Jeremy McGrath (250cc) earned championships.

Ricky Carmichael became the first 250cc supercross winner at Salt Lake City last year. Not only did Carmichael win his 13th main event in 2001 in Salt Lake City, he clichéd the championship.

110 and Counting: Jeremy McGrath earned his 110th career podium in Dallas last weekend.

Double Digits: If Carmichael wins this weekend, he can join McGrath as the second rider to win more than nine 250cc main events in back to back seasons.

Multi-Colored: If Carmichael clichés the championship this year he will join McGrath as the only rider to win on two brands (Kawasaki and Honda; McGrath did so on Honda and Yamaha).

Home Turf: David Vuillemin has been on the on the podium 11 times coming into Salt Lake City, a record in the 250cc class this year.

Seven Titles: If Carmichael wins the 250cc championship this year, he will tie Ricky Johnson and Jeff Ward for seven AMA titles.
