Path Valley Rains Out Saturday Races
Spring Run, PA_ Fans probably suffered the most as the biggest free racing show in the East rained out Saturday at the Path Valley Speedway Park.
Both the Saturday afternoon season opener for karts and quads and the Saturday evening season opener for the AMA motorcycles and four-wheelers were cancelled as Two Wheel Promotions staff were driven from the quarter-mile steeply banked clay oval by the persistent rain. Each event would have shown fans about 20 distinct feature races.
For the fifth season in a row, admission prices to the grandstand remain unchanged at Path Valley, and that includes free grandstand admission to the track's regular Saturday kart, four-wheeler and motorcycle races.
The karts and quads race every week at Path Valley and will try to get their season underway next Saturday, April 10. The afternoon karts and quads race will also feature an Easter Egg hunt for the kids, and the evening race for Strictly Stocks and Cyclones will include the season's first Candy Scramble for kids on the front stretch.
The AMA motorcycles that produce national amateur champions race almost every other week at Path Valley and do not return until April 17.
That will be the last chance for bikes and AMA quads to race on the Path Valley clay prior to the Northeast Nationals Memorial Day Weekend May 29-31. That premier national motorcycle event features Rodeo, Short Track sponsored by Action Motorsports and TT (Tourist Trophy) sponsored by Woodward's ATV races at Path Valley and the Half Mile sponsored by Lexus of Cherry Hill at Williams Grove, all produced by Two Wheel Promotions.
In the perpetual battle with Mother Nature, Path Valley racing is now 2 and 4 with only two shows completed and four rainouts. Last season Path Valley drivers suffered 32 rainouts.
The Franklin County oval welcomes back the national championship caliber Central PA Legends and the V-8 Street Stocks next Friday night, April 9. The Strictly Stocks in four, six and eight cylinder classes race next Saturday, April 10, following the Saturday afternoon kart and quad racing.
