Spring Run_ Two Wheel Promotions has declared the June 20 Pepsi Night and Public Service Appreciation Night Friday races at the Path Valley Speedway Park a rainout. The two major promotional events will be rescheduled to a drier date. This is the 22nd rainout of the season.
"Even if the rain stopped now, we could not get the track ready to race tonight after a week of rain," senior race director John Winsett said at 11 a.m.
"We will attempt to race Saturday with both our regular kart and quad races opening at 10 a.m. and our special AMA motorcycles race with the AHRMA Regional that evening," he said. "Then if the weather lets us, we will have our second Burris PDKA (Pennsylvania Dirt Karter's Association) race in the WKA State Championship Series on Sunday."
June 27 is the Mike Leidy Memorial race night to remember the Shirleysburg cancer victim who never got to race his new V-8 street stock at Path Valley. Mr. Leidy was a crewmember on the championship Bill Henney #50 team and last fall built a car to race at Path Valley, but succumbed before ever having a chance to drive it. The car and Leidy's family will be at the special Memorial and promoter Ken Geesey has been seeking a celebrity driver to try it out for the first time. Next Friday night is also Driver's Appreciatin Night with the popular Favorite Driver Contest sponsored by Photos By Walt Cox. Saturday June 28 includes kart and quad racing in the afternoon and a strictly stock race for junkyard cars in the evening.
The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike. The new phone number at the track for promoter Ken Geesey is 717-349-7111.
