Spring Run, PA-Persistent precipitation precluded racing Friday night at the Path Valley Speedway Park. All of the classes that were scheduled will get to try again Labor Day Monday, along with the Vintage Car Club and the 600cc Sprints.
"The extra water and work on the track should make it perfect for the rest of the weekend," predicted Race Director John Winsett. "Right now it's soft and firm and smooth as glass, but we don't have enough time left to get the program finished at a decent hour."
The AMA Motorcycle Short Track series had been scheduled to race Saturday night at Path Valley. The season's third Junk Car Race was scheduled Sunday, and a full afternoon program with seven divisions had been set for Labor Day Monday.
The points races toward the season championships have been extended for the Friday night cars and sprints until Sept. 14 because so many Friday races have rained out. Along with regular races through September, mechanic's races and a powder puff are scheduled. The 305 PA Sprints race Sept. 7 and 21, and the 358 late models return Sept. 14. The annual Legends Day and Flea Market wraps up the season Oct. 6, and the last AMA bike race is Oct. 13.
The stock car season ends Sept. 29 with the Four-Cylinder Shootout and Promoter Ken Geesey announced that the A-main would pay $1,000 to win, $500 for second and $250 for third. Path Valley rules apply except that the engine rule is open to any four-cylinder.
The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike off Route 75.
