AMA SUPERSTARS PASTRANA, WARD, AND HENRY CONFIRMED TO RIDE AT SUZUKI CYCLEFEST 2005

COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO (Aug. 17, 2005)- AMA Stars Travis Pastrana, Doug Henry, Jeff Ward, and Kurt Nicoll are confirmed to ride at the Fay Myers Suzuki Supermoto Classic at Suzuki CycleFest 2005 at Copper Mountain, Colorado. Travis Pastrana and Doug Henry just took home gold medals in ESPNâ^a^Ùs X Games in Moto X Freestyle and SuperMoto, respectively.

CycleFest, the largest motorcycle event to reign over the Rocky Mountain Region, returns again to Copper Mountain, August 19-21, 2005. CycleFest features the only double-header race of the AMA Supermoto season, with main events running Saturday and Sunday. The Supermoto race will take place at the base of Copper on a specially constructed track in the Alpine Parking Lot. Copper Mountain is the most challenging track of the series because of the high altitude of 9712 feet. This environment greatly changes the set up with the bikes and the riders. The riders have to be extremely precise with their bike setup for the thin air.

The Supermoto track features both dirt and pavement and combines elements from motocross, flat track, and road racing. The Copper track is particularly unique in that it incorporates two two-racing-line supercross-like sections and a wide blue groove left-hand turn flat-track section at the end of the 750-foot dirt straightaway, as well as a high-speed road racing course.

The highlight of the track is that it includes two of the fastest and longest dirt straightaways that the riders will see all year with speeds reaching upwards to 100 miles an hour.

On Friday, August 19, Supermoto riders are going to reach out to fans that can't make it up to Copper Mountain, by doing an autograph signing at Fay Myers in Denver 6-7 PM.

CycleFest, which is in its third year, is a fan-favorite because of its beautiful location and many festivities, like the featured Supermoto double-header race, as well as bike demos, road rides, and stunt shows, by Geoff Aaron and Jason Britton. CycleFest includes a concert Saturday, from 5-7:30 PM, by Street Survivor.

Nick Carlson of the Colorado Mammoth will serve as the Grand Marshal for Round 3 of Supermoto Classic, while Brandon Cruz, Altitude TV Anchor, is the Grand Marshal for Round 4. Amanda Hawkins, who has performed the anthem for the Denver Nuggets and 2005 NBA All-Star Weekend, will be the featured anthem singer.
