Popular @theWire LIVE! system upgraded for 2004 season
PICKERINGTON, Ohio (date) -- AMA Pro Racing's official AMA Chevrolet Motocross Championship website, www.USMotocross.com, will kick into high gear this weekend for the start of the 2004 motocross season at Hangtown. Like last season, motocross fans can expect to find the website updated regularly throughout each two-day race weekend with news and notes, photos and official race results and points. Topping the list of exclusive must-see content will be USMotocross.com's innovative online lap-time viewer @theWire LIVE!, which enables fans to watch lap times happen in near-real time as riders circulate the track.
Through AMA Pro Racing's relationship with the Indy Racing League's Timing & Scoring division, a more robust and reliable version of @theWire LIVE! was created last off season and used during much of the 2004 AMA Supercross Series each Saturday night. Built using Macromedia Flash, the upgraded version allows users to customize the layout of the information on the page. With @the Wire LIVE!, fans can watch lap times of each timed practice, qualifier, and moto just seconds after the bikes have crossed the finish line.
As the official website of the series, AMA Motocross fans again will be treated to on-site race reporting by prolific USMotocross.com contributor Jim Kimball, who will be at each event in the series. Adding to Kimball's coverage this year will be exclusive race photos from noted motocross photographer Jeff Kardas, as well as Steve Bruhn and up-and-coming photographer Jerid Davies.
The website is entering its third motocross season and continues to grow each month. "Our traffic continues to rise so it only makes sense to match that enthusiasm with more content," said Matt Ringlien, AMA Pro Racing web development and content manager. "USMotocross.com's bread and butter content is generated on event weekends, and with our improved @theWire LIVE! viewer and new photography, we're confident that fans will like what they see when they spend parts of their summer weekends watching the races on our site."
Ringlien added that in addition to unparalleled event coverage, USMotocross.com has in-depth rider and series information, as well as entertaining columnists and contests.
In addition to the comprehensive event coverage on USMotocross.com, fans can also listen to the action from every lap of the series thanks to the Racer X Webcast. Carried live on www.mxnationals.com, the webcast will be an actual simulcast of the event announcers "calling" the race trackside.
