Thor/Parts Unlimited: Headed to the Outdoors
The 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship gets underway this weekend from Rancho Cordova, Calif. in what should be a wide-open race for the championship throughout the 12 rounds of the series.
While the lineup of riders looks a little different from the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, most of the original casts of characters are back. Chad Reed returns to full-time racing with a clean bill of health, and even more importantly as a new Dad. He'll be dawning the number one plate this weekend at the Hangtown Classic, and is no doubt motivated to make sure that number one plate stays on his bike at the end of the year. It will be up to Reed to keep that 450-class title with Thor as he enters the season as the primary Thor rider in the 450-class.
The 250-class is filled with a lineup that should be running out front all summer long. Fresh off their regional supercross title wins, teammates Jake Weimer (West Champ, #12) and Christophe Pourcel (East Champ, #377) will lead the charge for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team. Right there with them will be a couple others from the Pro Circuit team in rookie Dean Wilson (#108) and former World MX Champion, Tyla Rattray (#28). The Outdoors will be the first look at Rattray this season, and expectations remain high for the talented South African rider.
Rounding out the Lites team for Thor is Nico Izzi (#341). After battling injuries during the 2010 Supercross season, Izzi is healthy and ready to fight his way onto the podium.
The 2010 Thor Outdoor team is completed with three women that should be in the chase for the 2010 Women's Motocross championship. Sherri Cruise (#3), Sara Price (#4) and Alexah Pearson (#54) are a very talented group of riders and will offer up a lot of excitement on the track this summer.
