Flat Track Nationals antique motorcycles display at Texas

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (April 30, 2001) - Antique motorcycles dating back to 1910 and modern custom hot rods will add history and color to Saturday night's Huffines Chevrolet Lewisville AMA Flat Track Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (April 30, 2001) - Antique motorcycles dating back to 1910 and modern custom hot rods will add history and color to Saturday night's Huffines Chevrolet Lewisville AMA Flat Track Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. Headlining the program will be the nation's leading dirt track motorcycle racers of the AMA Progressive Insurance U.S. Flat Track Championship.

The Tejas Chapter of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America will be displaying a wide variety of antique two-wheel machinery. The oldest is a 1910 Indian model. Harley-Davidsons represented will include 1921 and 1928 "J" models and post-WWII Panheads. Other antique brands to be shown include BMW, Zundapp, AJS, BSA, Honda, Norton and Triumph.

Adding to the evening's color will be a variety of custom hot rods. The antique motorcycles and custom cars will be available for viewing at 5:00 p.m. when the spectator gates open.

The Huffines Chevrolet Lewisville AMA Flat Track Nationals will include the premier flat track motorcycle racers in the country. Defending Grand National champion Joe Kopp will be challenged by former national champion Chris Carr, Jay Springsteen, Will Davis, J.R. Schnabel and local riders Terry Poovey, Jason Tyer and Willie McCoy. The Harley-Davidson Sportster Performance division will make their 2001 AMA debut. McCoy has won the last two Sportster championships.

"We are glad to have the Tejas Chapter displaying their historic machinery Saturday night," said Eddie Gossage, speedway general manager. "Fans will be able to view the history of motorcycling in addition to seeing the greatest dirt track riders from around the nation."
