Braselton, Ga. (June 29, 2003) - The American Le Mans Series driver Tom Weickardt crashed hard coming onto the front straight in the morning warmup at Road Atlanta.

The Carsport America Dodge Viper driver hit the wall on driver's right coming out of the final downhill turn. Weickardt was able to climb out of his car before being transported to the infield medical center for a checkup.

The front end damage is extensive and the team will probably withdraw from today's race.

"The damage is too much to fix in four hours," stated team manager Eric Burch. "Every bodywork piece is trashed. The suspension is non-existent on the right side. In the interest of drivers' safety, we're not going to piece together something here."
