Farnbacher Loles second place finish in Utah round of ALMS

Starting from the third spot on the grid, Marc Lieb jumped into second in the early running of the Larry H. Miller Dealerships UTAH GRAND PRIX outside of Salt Lake City. Lieb comfortably held the position through his driving stint, turning consistent laps in the drama free race, until handing over the cockpit to his co-driver and defending race winner Wolf Henzler with just over 90 minutes to go. Henzler reentered the race in the Farnbacher Loles Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in the third spot, but quickly reeled in P2 and regained the position.

Henzler, who was fighting the flu, kept pace with the race leader and turned consistent laps while keeping an eye on tire wear. As the clock wound down, the team was looking at their first ALMS podium of the season.

With a solid lead over the third place car, but not having enough time to challenge for the lead, Henzler was able to easily bring the #87 home to a well-deserved second place finish and the points that have been so hard to come by for the team this season.

"I have to congratulate our guys," said team principal Gregory Loles. "There were a lot of gremlins with the car heading into raceday, but we seemed to get everything worked out. Wolf and Marc did a fantastic job and we're all pretty happy to finally have a good result in the series after such a rough start."

Henzler spoke after the race: "Marc started the race and early on there was an accident involving the Risi Ferrari which put them way back in the field. That moved us into second place where we stayed for the whole race. We didn't have quite the pace of the leader but second place is very good. We finally finished on the podium, which is great for the team." Not one to rest, Henzler and his teammate Dirk Werner now head to the Nurburgring Nordschleife in Germany for the 24-Hour race next weekend.
