Farnbacher Loles Racing Super Sunday
2 series, 2 races, 2 states, 1 busy day
On Sunday May 17, the Farnbacher Loles Racing team will be utilizing all their resources as they take on both American Le Mans Series and Grand-Am Rolex Series races simultaneously. "When the schedules were released, we new there would be a couple of conflicts," said team principal Gregory Loles. "But we're prepared and look forward to the weekend. Actually, we have unique crew and infrastructure for each series, so the only challenge really is the driver line-up. Dirk Werner and Wolf Henzler drive in both series for us. For this weekend, we are going to split them up. Wolf will be driving the Porsche RSR with Marc Lieb in the ALMS race in Salt Lake City. Meanwhile in Monterey, Dirk will be with his co-driver Leh Keen in the #87 while Kevin Roush partners with Eric Lux in the #86. It should be an exciting weekend for both the team and our fans."
Farnbacher Loles Utah ALMS preview
After three rounds in the American Le Mans Series, the Farnbacher Loles Racing team is looking to Miller Motorsports Park outside of Salt Lake City for a change of luck. The team has started every race from the front row, with two poles and a p2 in qualifying in their Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. The driving duo of Wolf Henzler and Dirk Werner have led at each race this season, but podiums have been elusive so far. Both drivers sit 10th in points heading into Sunday's Larry H. Miller Dealerships UTAH GRAND PRIX.
Due to a race schedule conflict, Werner will miss this round. Henzler of Nurtingen, Germany will team with fellow Porsche factory works driver Marc Lieb of Ludwigsburg, Germany, for the 2.75-hour race on the 4.5 mile road course.
With the demise of the GT1 cars, a new class has been added for selected races in the ALMS, commencing with the Utah round. The ALMS Challenge Class comprises cars from the PATRON GT3 Challenge by Yokohama series. One of those Porsche GT3 Cup cars will be entered by Farnbacher Loles Racing and driven by Darrell Carlisle of McLean, VA who has been one of the top competitors in the PATRON GT3 Challenge.
Qualifying for both the GT2 and Challenge Classes will be held on Saturday, May 16, at 3:20pm (MDT) with the race start on Sunday, May 17, at 2:15pm (MDT).
