Tequila Patron Extreme Speed Motorsports, the new race team created and owned by veteran race car driver Scott Sharp, qualified in 2nd and 9th position in the GT2 class this afternoon for tomorrows American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron, at the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix.

The No.01 Extreme Speed Motorsports Ferrari F430 GTC, qualified by Johannes van Overbeek, was just .062 seconds away from the pole position, with a 2nd place qualifying lap time of 1:47.729 for tomorrows 2-hour 45-minute road course race. Guy Cosmo guided the No.02 car around the 3.048-mile, 15-turn track for a time of 1:48.550, earning it 9th place on the grid.

"These guys on our crew are so good, they really rallied on the car set up today to put us in the number two spot the second time in a row for us, and with a much tighter time difference than the last race at Laguna Seca," commented van Overbeek. "Should be a great race tomorrow!"

Added Cosmo teammate Ed Brown, "Johannes and the team did a terrific job out there today in the 01 car. Unfortunately in the 02 car weve been struggling a bit and some of the changes we made ended up making the car worse. But Cosmo did a great job with the car he had, and we have some work to do tonight to get ready for tomorrow."

On Sunday, July 11, in the No.01 Extreme Speed Motorsports Ferrari will be Scott Sharp and Johannes van Overbeek, joined by Ed Brown and Guy Cosmo behind the wheel of the No.02 Ferrari.

Starting with this race, the Extreme Speed Motorsports Ferraris are running on cellulosic E85R biofuel. The switch to alternative fuels not only will help the performance of the cars, its also in line with the American Le Mans Series global leadership of Green Racing.

The Utah Grand Prix, the fourth competition so far in this years season, begins at 2:35pm MT and will be broadcast live on SPEED, starting at 4:30pm EST. Race fans can also tune in live to XM Channel 242 and Sirius 127. The race will also be on MotorsTV in 21 countries in Europe next Sunday, July 18.
