Don Panoz has reacted to press speculation that only one Panoz LMP07 will be entered into the American Le Mans Series this season by announcing that he would enter two at each round and was working towards a further full-time entry in the European Le Mans Series.

"We want to be able to have a Panoz entry in Europe and are working hard on bringing that to fruition," Panoz was quoted as saying. The release also named David Brabham, Jan Magnussen and Klaus Graf as works drivers, with a further driver announcement to be made later this week. Ulsterman Jonny Kane is in talks with Panoz for a drive, at least at the Sebring 12-hours next month, and visited the team at its test in Atlanta this week. Mark Blundell, Eric van de Poele and Johnny Herbert are also though to be in the frame.

Panoz's inclusion in the ELMS puts pressure on Michelin to supply tyres to the series after revealing last week that it would be unable to support another major championship. The French manufacturer has a long-term contract with Panoz. Should the French tyre manufacturer attend the European series, it would come as some relief to the Westward Racing Panoz team, and Stefan Johansson's Audi team. The Swede is in the process of finalising his sponsorship to run the Audi in the ELMS and at Le Mans, and hopes to make an announcement in the next two weeks.
