BRASELTON, Ga. (August 4, 2003) -- The J3 Racing Porsche, which had finished third in the GT class in Sunday's American Le Mans Series Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres in Canada, has been excluded from the final race results due to a technical violation.

Officials of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), the sanctioning body for the American Le Mans Series, said that the front bumper backing support brackets were not in place in the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, a violation of 3.3.1 of the 2003 Technical Regulations of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO). The American Le Mans Series operates on the technical rules of the ACO, organizers of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

David Murry and Justin Jackson drove the J3 Racing Porsche in the Trois-Rivieres race. J3 Racing has filed an appeal of the penalty, which the entrant has the right to do under IMSA rules.

As a result of the exclusion, the ACEMCO Motorsports Ferrari 360 Modena driven by Shane Lewis and Terry Borcheller has been elevated to the third finishing position in the GT class behind the winning Alex Job Racing Porsche of Sascha Maassen and Lucas Luhr and the runner-up Risi Competizione Ferrari of Ralf Kelleners and Anthony Lazzaro. All other GT class competitors also move up one position in the final order.

The next event for the American Le Mans Series is the Grand Prix of Mosport at Mosport International Raceway near Toronto Aug. 15-17.
