KnightHawk takes pole, but not first corner, at Trois-Rivieres.

August 7, 2002 Englewood, CO -- KnightHawk Racing took the pole for last Saturday's Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres, but unfortunately did not make it past the very first corner of the 1.52-mile street circuit.

Truth be told, there are still people that haven't figured out exactly what happened. It seems to be a classic case of "who done what, when, where, how and why." What is known is that the KnightHawk MG Lola and the Champion Audi ended up together and the KnightHawk car ended the day off the track with substantial damage and ultimately retired from the race -- causing major disappointment for team drivers Steve Knight and Chad Block -- as well as the entire hardworking crew.

"Unfortunately, our race lasted only until the first corner, where the Champion Audi and I got together," said Steve Knight. "I feel really bad for the team because they had the car working perfectly. We'll renew ourselves at Mosport and get back on top in the championship."

Block put the #11 Gestetner/DNTLWorks MG Lola 675 LMP on the class pole -- and 5th overall - with a best lap time of 1:02.3794. Block completed a total of seven laps in the 20-minute session and placed 1.2729 seconds ahead of the next in class Archangel prototype.

"Today was obviously a disappointment for us all -- but that's racing," said Chad Block. "We have talked over the incident extensively and have chalked it up as a racing accident. I'm sure that KnightHawk's luck will change soon. It was our first pole together and to see the team's disappointment after the race was almost like a positive experience -- because it showed me how dedicated they are. Soon things will change and we will win -- I hope to be there!"

The team is very happy and proud for the support of teammate Block by Gestetner.
