Norwich, UK, Monday 24th February 2003: Taurus Sports, the Norfolk-based sportscar racing team assembled by Ian Dawson, will run a Lola (B2K10 B) Judd LMP 900 at the classic Sebring 12 Hours which takes place from 13-15 March. The Judd-powered Lola will benefit from a factory supported tyre programme with Dunlop as the Team prepares for the event with a shakedown at Snetterton on Friday.
Following the Florida race Taurus Sports will then compete in all seven rounds of the 2003 FIA International Sportscar Championship. An entry has also been submitted to race at 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.
Taurus Sports, Team Proprietor and Race Director, Ian Dawson:
"We have worked hard to put together a competitive race programme for this year and I am delighted by the outcome. Our newly developed premises, including a fully equipped human performance centre, is now operational and Taurus Sports has assembled a first class team of professionals with the drive and engineering expertise to prepare cars to race at the highest level."
"We are very excited about the future of Taurus Sports and the strength of our 2003 programme, which may also include us running a second car in the FIA Sportscar Championship."
"Working with companies of the calibre of Lola, Judd and Dunlop is testimony to our credentials and they know that we will represent their interests with the utmost professionalism."
The relationship between Ian Dawson and Lola spans more than two decades. In 1981 Ian ran the first Lola Group C sportscar programme, and as recently as 2000 he successfully competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a Nissan-powered Lola, winning the LMP 675 category.
The driver line-up for Sebring will be announced within the next seven days.
