Alternative Fuels: KoRn's Need for Speed
With sights set on the 2005 American LeMans Series Championship, Orlando based SpeedQuest Racing has been gearing up for it's debut at the famed 12 Hours of Sebring race. Led by Chicago driver Romeo Kapudija, team SpeedQuest rolls onto the scene with a superior lineup of pros and the horsepower to back them up.
In the spirit of the longstanding association between fast cars and rock n' roll, SpeedQuest has reached an exclusive partnership agreement with the multi-platinum recording giant, KoRn. "We play fast, live fast and...drive fast," said Korn's Jonathan Davis. "Getting into the driver's seat with the SpeedQuest racing team is something we have been looking forward too and are totally psyched about. There's nothing quite like going 100 miles per hour while blasting your favorite tunes, and now we have the opportunity to get even more involved in the world of fast cars."
KoRn has stayed in touch with their audience through personal contact, and their notorious fan-based approach to the business in general. As it happens, the moniker for the American Le Mans Series is "For the Fans", and SpeedQuest Racing will adopt these theories to make sure that racing and music fans alike are made a large part of the show from Sebring and beyond. "We are all equally excited about the crossover in fan base between the band, the race team, and the racing series itself," states Team Director Eric Burch.
"I believe this is an amazing opportunity, not only for myself as a driver, but also for the fans of the American LeMans Series, " says Romeo Kapudija. "I have always thought that music and racing are a perfect combination and now we have a unique chance to showcase the mixture of both." It is obvious that cars and music influence each other. Car makers are paying millions of dollars sampling songs to increase brand recognition and sales; Sting for Jaguar, Led Zeppelin for Cadillac, The Who and The Ramones for Nissan, and who could forget Bob Seager's "Like a Rock" for Chevrolet. For generations, music and fast cars have been synonymous with one another and now we can unite the two on one stage.
The loyal fans of the American LeMans series, if not already familiar with the sights and sounds of KoRn will now have a chance to be introduced to the bands unparalleled music.

Now, ten years, six albums, and more than twenty-five million records deep into a career that spawned an epidemic of imitators, KoRn remains as creatively vibrant and culturally relevant as ever. But holding onto their massive fan-base and staying true to the spirit of innovation hasn't exactly been a cakewalk...
What uncharted sonic territories will KoRn traverse in their second decade as a band? Time will tell. But one thing's certain: this group is never content to rest on its laurels. Expect big things!
