The People have spoken: American Le Mans Series enjoyed the most by Racer Magazine Readership
Braselton, GA - In a season that has seen rising network TV ratings as well as event attendance increases at almost all venues, the American Le Mans Series has received another glowing endorsement from the readers of one of the world's most respected motorsports publications.
RACER magazine has announced the results of a recently conducted survey of its readership and the American Le Mans Series received the highest marks in response to the question "What type of racing do you like?"
"This is wonderful news for us and testifies to the continued growth of the American Le Mans Series," said Scott Atherton, President and CEO of the ALMS. "RACER has always been a publication designed to appeal to a higher demographic of racing enthusiast and that description also perfectly applies to fans of the ALMS. It is very gratifying to learn that the readers of RACER like what we are doing and put us ahead of the many other forms of racing included in the magazine. The management of RACER has assured us that the voices of the readers have been heard and that the magazine will respond accordingly."
The majority of respondents indicated they watch racing weekly, and many also listed the American Le Mans Series as an additional choice to their favorite category.
"I'm excited by the scale and enthusiasm of the response from RACER readers," said RACER editor-in-chief Laurence Foster. "We'll be studying the results of the survey in the weeks ahead. The high ratings for series like the ALMS certainly reinforces my opinion that RACER's readers are enthusiastic for all types of racing."
RACER, which also provides content for the popular SPEEDTV.com website, conducted the readership survey both online and via a bound-in questionnaire that appeared in the February 2004 issue. The response received represented 2.6 percent of the publication's readership, which is considered an excellent response rate for such surveys.
About the American Le Mans Series
The American Le Mans Series is a series of North American sports car races based on the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world's most famous endurance race. American Le Mans Series races feature four classes of race cars competing for class wins and the overall win, with the fields including many of the same drivers and cars that compete at Le Mans. The series holds events at many of North America's premier permanent road racing facilities. The series motto is "For the Fans" and all events feature driver autograph sessions, open paddock, fan forum, tech talks and many other innovative activities designed to provide unprecedented access for fans. All events are on television in the United States. Well-known automotive brand names such as Audi, Corvette, Dodge, Ferrari, Lamborghini, MG, Panoz, Porsche and Saleen are represented on the series. The series, which has its headquarters in Braselton, Ga., was founded in 1999 by entrepreneur Don Panoz and is sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA).
