PORSCHE GOING FOR 100TH SERIES VICTORY
Most successful marque in American Le Mans Series has entries in LMP2, GT2
In a season that saw the American Le Mans Series contest its 100th all-time event, Porsche is set to make the number significant in its own way. Its next victory in the American Le Mans Series' LMP2 or GT2 class will make the German manufacturer and Series' most successful marque the first to record 100 class victories in the world's premier sports car championship.
Four Porsches are entered for the Time Warner Cable Road Race Showcase -three in GT2 and one in LMP2. The production-based class will see Flying Lizard Motorsports' duo of Jorg Bergmeister and Patrick Long - both Porsche works drivers - try to make history of their own with a record sixth consecutive class victory in their Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. The championship leaders have won every round since placing fourth at the season-opening 57th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida.
Bergmeister is a four-time winner at Road America and Long has won twice - both with Bergmeister in 2005 and 2006.
Seth Neiman and Darren Law will drive a second Flying Lizard entry.
Defending Road America class winner Farnbacher Loles Racing will send Porsche factory driver Wolf Henzler and Bryce Miller - part of last year's winning trio - to battle in their Porsche.
In LMP2, Greg Pickett and Klaus Graf are driving the Team Cytosport Porsche RS Spyder after their first outing in the prototype netted a runner-up class finish at Mid-Ohio.
