TRG TO RETURN TO HISTORIC 12 HOURS OF SEBRING
Petaluma, CA (March 15, 2010)- Following a five-year hiatus from the endurance classic, TRG is proud to announce their entry in to the 58th Annual Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring, taking place this Saturday on March 20th. Featuring drivers Henri Richard, Duncan Ende, and Andy Lally, the team will premier in the new GTC category, running a 2009 GRAND-AM spec Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.
With one of the strongest lineups in the GTC category, TRG is headed to this weekend's race with a solid focus on top results. Despite three wins at The Rolex 24 at Daytona, a victory at The 24 Heures du Mans, and multiple race wins as well as Team and Driver's Championships, TRG has never won at Sebring.
Running in his first ever American Le Mans Series race, TRG's Henri Richard comes in to the race as an experienced veteran of several international categories. Running everything from FIA GT cars, to GRAND-AM GT, and most recently competing at The Rolex 24 at Daytona, the likeable Frenchman is looking forward to his Sebring debut.
"Sebring is a must-do for any driver who wants to compete at the top-levels of sports car racing," stated Richard. "I'm very thankful to TRG for the opportunity as well as the ALMS for creating this category. This is an exciting race to be part of, and I think with two strong teammates we have a really good chance. My sponsors at Future Electronics and Freescale Semiconductors have been big supporters of this event, and we really appreciate their efforts."
Also making his debut will be Porsche veteran Duncan Ende. As a two-time competitor at The Rolex 24 at Daytona and winner in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, Ende is recognized as part of a young and competitive group of upcoming Porsche drivers. Having driven at Sebring in a number of other categories, the Californian is looking forward to returning to Sebring as part of the big race.
"Ever since I pursued a career in racing this was one of the events I've dreamed of being part of," claimed Ende. "I have been with TRG for over three years now and I know they will prepared a good car, not to mention great teammates, so I'm looking forward to a competitive race."
Finally, the duo will be joined by a very experienced competitor at Sebring, Andy Lally. Running in his 10th consecutive 12 Hour, Andy has always been very competitive at the historic endurance event, including a second place overall in 2008 driving a Porsche RS Spyder.
"Sebring is a special place for me, Ive had some great results and real heartbreaks here but it is an epic event every year and this year should be no different," stated the two-time Rolex 24 winner. "I think we have a good team of drivers, crew and management here and it will be interesting to see how the new GTC class pans out."
For TRG Team Owner Kevin Buckler, the return to Sebring means unfinished business. Despite all the team's endurance success, victory at the Mobil 12 Hours of Sebring has eluded the team, and this may be one of their best chances yet.
"We really want to take Sebring this year, and I think we have the team to do it," stated Buckler. "Henri, Duncan, and Andy are a really strong lineup, and given our experience with these type of cars, I think we have a real shot at the GTC category. I always love coming to this race, and I'm really excited to be back in the ALMS."
Coverage of the 58th Annual Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring will begin LIVE on Saturday, March 20th, at 10AM EST on SPEED. Coverage will continue intermittently throughout the race, ending at 11PM EST.
