Spyker Cars of Baarn, the Netherlands, has entered its first C8 Double 12R (chassis number 006) for the 12 Hours of Sebring to be held on 16 March 2002. The car with the appropriate start number 12 will be driven by Peter Kox, Hans Hugenholtz and Derek Hill. Derek (26) has gained a wide experience in GT class racing and won among others the 1997 GTS 3 class in the 12 hours of Sebring.

Spyker enters the first American Le Mans Series race at Sebring in preparation of its intended Le Mans participation where it will field two cars. Peter Kox will share his number one car with Norman Simon who signed up with Spyker Squadron last week.

Victor Muller, Spyker's CEO: "As Peter Kox and Norman Simon have raced together on many occasions - most recently in the 2001 European Touring Car Championship for BMW - and have known each other for a long time, they form an excellent team on our number one car and negotiations are currently ongoing with a third driver."

Norman Simon: "I am very impressed with the car and very happy to have joined Spyker. It is always a great challenge to be part of the development of a new car especially being part of such a great team with Hans Reiter as team manager and Peter Kox as team-mate".

On the number two car Hans Hugenholtz will team up with Dominique Dupuy. Dominique Dupuy: "It is for me a really great pleasure and interesting challenge to contribute in such a way to the revival of this famous name." Dominique won four times the 24 hours of Le Mans race in a GT Car.
