Robertson Racing through two-thirds distance at Sebring
20/03/2010 - Robertson Racing has made a solid start to today's Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh From Florida with the team's Ford GT running inside the top ten after the first four hours.
Despite the car requiring a major rebuild following an accident during Monday's test session, the #40 machine, driven by husband and wife duo David and Andrea Robertson, as well as David Murry, has encountered no major mechanical issues after eight hours of hard fought racing.
Up to this point, only a bleeding of the car's clutch has been required as a precautionary measure to protect the gearbox itself, while the minor irritation concerning David Robertson's radio has also been resolved.
Andrew "H" Smith, Robertson Racing Team Manager, said: "A wire broke in Dave's radio but we got over that issue and it's now working fine. We've also had some problems with the clutch which meant we had to bleed it a touch, but that's now working fine. The fluid was getting a bit low and it struggled to disengage during the downshifts so we bled it to give us a good pedal again. It wasn't ideal but was something we had to do.
"We've now got all three drivers up to their minimum driving time so we're in good shape to finish the race."
David Murry: "Considering what we've put the whole team through during the past week, it's incredible, aside from the minor clutch issue, that we've run so well. Having said that, I wouldn't expect anything less from this group of guys; they've been fantastic."
Andrea Robertson is now aboard the Ford GT as the race moves into its final third.
