Drop Out for Pierre Ehret at 12 Hours of Sebring

"Huge expense, no recompense", so Pierre Ehret after the 12 Hours of Sebring which was at the same time the first round of the American Le Mans Series 2006.

The 54th edition of the race held in Florida was not the one of the Farnbacher-Loles drivers trio. Pierre Ehret, Youngster Dominik Farnbacher and Lars Nielsen had to give up the race early.

In the qualifying-session the team reached 28th starting position overall. In GT category that meant rank eleven. Pierre Ehret was not happy at all: "The whole week we had to deal with a major understeering problem, which changed to oversteering to the end of several corners. So we loose a lot of speed in the corners."The problem was the combination of the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR and the new Yokohama tyres. So far one did not manage to find a perfect solution.

Unfortunately luck did not come back at the start to the race either. Already the first stints of Dominic Farnbacher were problematic and after Ehret drove second stint he was forced to pits two times due to a broken servo steering. All told one lost about eleven laps. Even worse the team got a time penalty for exceeding the speed limit in the pitlane. The software of the speed limiter was broken!

The team quit the race at 0.40 (MEZ). As Pierre Ehret tried to roll out for his stint, the rear-wheels blocked. At once the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR was checked and finally the team realised a broken engine suspension. "I really do not know how this could happen at all", said Pierre Ehret.
