Audi Named Sebring's Official Car and Pace Car
Sebring, FL -- Audi of America has signed as the official car and pace car for the 53rd Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The premier race of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) runs Saturday, March 19, at the historic Sebring International Raceway.
"Audi and Sebring are two legendary names in international sports car racing," stated Sebring President and GM Tres Stephenson. "We are honored to continue our marketing partnership with Audi."
Audi will be going for its sixth consecutive Sebring win this year. The manufacturer has also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans four out of the past five years.
"Audi of America is honored to once again be the Official Car of Sebring," stated Rod Bymaster of Audi Sport North America. "Sebring International Raceway is a special place for Audi. It was at the 2000 Twelve Hours of Sebring that the R8 participated in its first race, and won. Now in 2005 the R8 is in its last year of competition, with high hopes of winning again."
In addition to official car status, Audi will pace the field for the start of Sebring's once-around-the-clock classic. A stellar entry of 40 cars will take the green flag at 10:45 am Saturday, March 19.
Audi driver Frank Biela will be attempting to become the first four-time winner in Sebring history. He is currently tied with Mario Andretti, Phil Hill, Hans Stuck and Olivier Gendebien.
Gates open at Sebring on Wednesday, March 16, and remain open 24 hours a day through Saturday. Sebring International Raceway offers a wide variety of camping and viewing options. For detailed ticket information visit sebringraceway.com or call toll-free 800-626-7223.
