XM Satellite Radio Acura to Start Fifth in LMP2 at Sebring; Herta, Fittipaldi and Andretti to Start Eighth Overall
SEBRING, Fla. (March 13, 2008) -- Bryan Herta, Christian Fittipaldi and Marco Andretti will start the XM Satellite Radio Acura from the fifth position in the LMP2 class and eighth overall for Saturday's running of the 56th annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
Thursday's 25-minute timed qualifying session was scrapped during the session because of an accident. The cancellation of qualifying forced the starting field to be set based on combined practice times from the days leading up to qualifying. By that standard, the XM Acura team's starting position was established on a best-lap speed of 124.916 miles per hour (1:46.632 seconds) during practice sessions.
Andretti Green Racing, along with Acura and XM Satellite Radio, is entering its second season of ALMS competition. The 2007 season was highlighted by a LMP2 class victory at the 2007 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring where Herta teamed with Tony Kanaan and Dario Franchitti to win in the very first race for the team.
SPEED Channel will provide live coverage of the 12 Hours of Sebring beginning at 9:30 a.m. (EDT) Saturday. It can also be heard on XM Satellite Radio, channel 166, beginning at 10 a.m. (EDT).
Marco Andretti, #26 XM Satellite Radio Acura:
"This is incredibly disappointing because we've shown how quick the XM Satellite Radio Acura has been all week. I really think we would have gotten the LMP2 pole position so I feel bad for the crew because that would have been a real boost for everyone. That being said, we have to understand that this is a 12-hour race and no one is going to win because they sat on the pole. We know that the XM Acura is very durable and we expect to make our way to the front very quickly."
