The No. 24 Alex Job Racing McKenna Porsche qualified on the pole at today's qualifying session with a lap time of 2:06.023. This pole marks the first for driver Timo Bernhard.

"I'm very happy about my first pole. I think it has to do with the car number change. This is a new car, new number and new season. Jorg and I felt that the number 22 needed to be retired and it's good mentally for us. So far we're off to a good start," said Bernhard of his first pole.

No. 23 qualified third with a lap time of 2:06.249 with Sascha Maassen behind the wheel.

"Well, it's not the pole, but I'm glad to be third. My teammate Timo and Marc Lieb are very quick," Maassen said.

"We're pleased with one and three, but it would be better to be one and two of course. I'm very proud of Timo on his first pole. Between our team car and Marc Lieb, they gave us a challenge. This is only qualifying and with a long race, it doesn't mean much; anything can happen," team owner Alex Job said.

The team is proud to welcome back McKenna Porsche as its primary sponsor for the 2003 season. The family-run business, headquartered in Norwalk, Calif., owns five dealerships in Southern California and an additional three in Hawaii. McKenna is one of the top 10 Porsche dealers in the United States and is ranked first in Volkswagen sales, fifth in BMW sales and 11th in Porsche sales in the western states. The McKenna family has a long history of involvement in motorsport, sponsoring winning teams in Formula V and IMSA before partnering with Alex Job Racing.

Based in Tavares, Fla., Alex Job Racing serves as a race prep, chassis-building and tuning facility. On a day-to-day basis, team owners Alex and Holly Job are involved in the growth and administrative functions of the team and business.
