SONOMA, Calif.- Orbit Racing's two Porsche 911 GT3RS racecars qualified 8th and 11th in the GT class at Sears Point today in preparation for the Grand Prix of Sonoma, the second round in the American Le Mans Series season.

This is the first time the team has competed at Sears Point.

The #43 Orbit Porsche qualified 8th in the GT class with Peter Baron behind the wheel. Baron set a fast time of 1:40.957 (90.217 mph) during the qualifying session. He and Leo Hindery will share the driving duties in the 2-hour and 45-minute race.

"We just had a few ticks. We're right with the pack for the race," said Baron. "Maybe we can make some improvements before the race. Everyone is pretty happy with where we are considering it's our first time here."

Hindery will be the starting driver for Sunday's race.

In the #42 Orbit car, Gary Schultheis qualified 11th with a time of 1:43.625 (87.894 mph) around the 2.53-mile, 12-turn road course. Schultheis will drive with Tony Kester in the race.

"It's a very difficult track," explained Schultheis. "There's no way to really take a breather or take a rest. It's very technical and you really need to have your wits about you. It's our first time here."

Orbit Racing is sponsored by the YES Network, CigarCigar.com, Bank von Ernst and Braman Motorcars.

The Grand Prix of Sonoma at Sears Point gets the green flag at 1:00 PDT. Race results and other information can be found on Orbit Racing's website, www.OrbitRacing.com.
