J3 Racing Finishes Sixth at Infineon
Sonoma, California -- J3 Racing drivers Justin Jackson and Tim Sugden drove their number 79/J3 Racing/Porsche 911 RSR to a sixth place finish in GT2 today in round five of the American Le Mans Series race run at Infineon Raceway.
Qualifying the Porsche in eighth with a time of 1:36.154 with a speed of 95 mph, the Buford, Georgia based team started from the fourth row in GT2. "In qualifying we were ok, but in the heat of the day the car was pretty loose," said Tim Sugden.
Justin Jackson brought the car to the green flag for the 11:00 a.m. start. On lap four Jackson returned to the pits for tires. "I went into the last turn too hot trying to make a pass and just nudged the tire barrier. We wanted to be sure we didn't have a flat or it was rubbing so we put tires on. After that I was fine. I have been recovering from a virus this weekend and had to have an IV this morning, but during the race I felt pretty good."
Sugden took over from Jackson on lap 66 with the car in fourth place. "Throughout the weekend the car got better every session. The guys made nice strides to improve the set up for us. In the race the car was a little loose in the front end when I got it from Justin after his wall incident. It was a handful through the esses and the fast stuff. We were able to bring it home for a decent finish."
Pierre Ehrett and David Murry, driving the number 78/ Lion Antique Investments/Flamingo Resorts/J3 Racing/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, after qualifying tenth with a time of 1:37.373 had their race end prematurely on lap 55 with a drivetrain problem.
The team goes directly to Portland International Raceway for round six of the American Le Mans Series race to be run on July 30th.
