Sears Point: Doran-Lista Friday report

SONOMA, Calif., July 25 -- The Doran-Lista Dallara MG #27 ran 29 laps in practice Friday at Infineon Raceway in preparation for Sunday's Infineon Grand Prix of Sonoma American Le Mans Series (ALMS) race. At the end of the day the team was seventh overall and fourth in the top class, LMP 900, behind two Audis and one Panoz.

Sunday's two-hour and 45-minute race will be broadcast live on NBC from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time. Qualifying will be held tomorrow at 3:35 p.m.

Lead driver Didier Theys of Scottsdale, Ariz., recorded most of the laps and was behind the wheel when the car did its best time of the day. He was clocked in 1:28.553 for an average speed of 102.854 mph on that lap, the 16th lap of the day for the team.

The team had to replace the car's power steering pump late in the session, but other than that it had no real problems. As always, the team concentrated on the car's set-up as it tried to arrive at optimum balance and grip.

DIDIER THEYS: "We adjusted the car for the racetrack, and the car is better now. It's kind of a bumpy track. We spent most of the session adjusting the suspension for the track conditions. We also had to change the power steering pump, and we lost about a half-hour doing that."

FREDY LIENHARD SR.: "I only did about three laps. The car is fine, but I
didn't do as well as I had hoped. It's been awhile since my last race, which
was Sebring. But hopefully tomorrow will be better."

KEVIN DORAN: "It was just a normal practice day. We had a problem with the power steering, but once we changed that everything was fine. We're not as fast as we'd like to be, but we're working on it."
