Team CytoSport muscles its way to the top in Petit Le Mans practice
On track at RAtl Braselton, Georgia (September 24, 2009) - The Team CytoSport Muscle Milk squad are off to a strong start at Petit Le Mans after topping the LMP2 charts on the first day of practice Thursday at Road Atlanta.
With three practice sessions taking place today, the Muscle Milk race team put in its fastest lap during the afternoon session with a lap of 1:11.957, registered by Klaus Graf aboard the #6 Porsche RS Spyder. The lap time set them atop the charts in the LMP2 class where they would remain through the night session.
Although the lap times in general were slower in the night practice, Team CytoSport continued to show its strength and set the pace once again in the third practice of the day.
With today's on-track performance, the team led by drivers Greg Pickett, Klaus Graf and Sascha Maassen are showing good form heading into Friday's qualifying session, which gets underway at 2:55 p.m. ET.
Petit Le Mans goes green at 11:20 a.m. ET, Saturday, September 26 and will be broadcast live on SPEEDTV starting at 11:00 a.m. ET.
Team CytoSport Muscle Milk Quoteboard:
Greg Pickett, Owner, driver, #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder
"I think everybody is very happy tonight and I'm happy with my time in the Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder. I went exactly as fast at night as I had gone in the day. We tried different things today, figuring out what we can do and the car continued to run all the laps. I'm very proud of my guys. They've really done a good job. Things are looking good, but you never know in this kind of race."
Klaus Graf, driver #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder
"We're very pleased with our performance today and tonight. Even though we put in our fastest lap this afternoon, we continued to improve the car a lot since then. We've made some gains and the Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder feels very comfortable right now. Again, we had no problems with the car, so far, we'll keep our fingers crossed, you never know, there's still a lot of track time before the race. I think we just need to keep our heads down and keep working like we did. Now I think we can focus a little bit more on strategy and the race because I think we have the car dialed in pretty good, even though we still have qualifying tomorrow."
Klaus and Sascha Sascha Maassen, driver #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder
"The Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder is running fine. We have had no major problems. We need to keep on running like we are. I think we have a quick car and a reliable car and now we just have to stay out of trouble and keep doing our job as best we can."
