Bell Making American LeMans Series Debut with LG Motorsports
Braselton, GA (25 September 2009)--This season, Matt Bell has set a torrid pace with scores of new accomplishments on his racing resume, taking record-setting pole positions as well as breakthrough race wins.
And that resume is set to grow once again this weekend as the California youngster makes his American LeMans Series debut as part of the series' largest event of the season in the 12th annual Petit LeMans powered by MAZDA6 event at Road Atlanta.
Bell has been tapped to join LG Motorsports to drive the No. 28 Hot Shot Chevrolet-Riley Corvette in the GT2 class with co-drivers Tom Sutherland and Tomy Drissi in Saturday's 1,000 mile/10 hour endurance challenge.
The race weekend marks several firsts for Bell as he competes at Road Atlanta for the first time while also adapting to the four-class structure of the ALMS and getting his first taste of Corvette GT2 power.
"I'm really excited about being a part of this huge event and I want to thank Lou Gigliotti and Hot Shot for making this happen", said Bell, fresh from a podium in Grand-Am KONI Challenge competition at Miller Motorsports Park last weekend.
"I wasn't sure what to expect with the car, but I've really enjoyed driving it so far, and the team has made me feel right at home. The level of competition for this event is really high, and this car is going up against some really big teams. Hopefully we can avoid any issues in the early going and just set a good race pace to be there at the finish. I just can't wait for everything to get going!"
Bell wont have to wait too much longer, with the green flag slated to fly on Saturday at 11:15 AM ET. SPEED will carry live flag-to-flag coverage of the event.
