Cosmo Poised for Petit Le Mans this weekend
Atlanta, GA (28 September 05)--Guy Cosmo will be back in racing action this weekend, returning to the cockpit of the #8 B-K Motorsports Sportsbook.com Mazda/Courage for the biggest race of the American Le Mans season, the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. The race will go 1,000 miles or ten hours, whichever comes first, with an automatic entry to the 2006 Le Mans classic up for grabs for each of the class winners in the race.
The race weekend is a special one for Cosmo, as the famous track outside of Atlanta was the site of the debut for the LMP2 Mazda-powered entry, which made quite an impression with a run to second place in just their first start.
"I am really looking forward to being back at Road Atlanta," said Cosmo. "This Mazda program with B-K Motorsports has developed every weekend we have raced together, and running on the same track where we made our debut will be a good way to see how much improvement we have made this season."
The race weekend marks the first Petit Le Mans start for Cosmo, who will once again be sharing the Sportsbook.com entry with fellow American Jamie Bach, as well as a new partner on the driving side with the experienced Elliot Forbes-Robinson joining the effort.
"Having a guy like Elliot is an absolutely huge opportunity for Jamie and I, as well as our entire program," said Cosmo. "He's just a great guy, and he has so much experience in so many categories that he will be really helpful for us as we continue to work to improve the car. He's also amazingly fast, and we know he can bring the car home in one piece, which is very important in a ten hour race like this."
The race week began a bit early for Cosmo, as he participated in the Motorsports Ministries Kart Challenge for Charity, teaming with B-K and Mazda personnel to help raise money with a three-hour karting endurance race.
Petit Le Mans is the ninth round of the American Le Mans Series. The annual 1,000-mile/10-hour race is scheduled to start 11:20 a.m. EDT Saturday at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga. SPEED Channel will provide live television coverage. Qualifying is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. EDT Friday. American Le Mans Series Radio, and IMSA Living and Timing Scoring will be available at www.americanlemans.com.
