HIGHCROFT RACING MAKES STRONG COMEBACK IN QUALIFYING AFTER DIFFICULT WEEK AT ROAD ATLANTA

David Brabham Makes Brilliant Run and Puts Team Fifth on Grid for Petit Le Mans

Not knowing quite what to expect after a difficult week of practice, David Brabham drove a masterful qualifying session which put Highcroft Racing in fifth position for tomorrow's 10 hour race. The #9 Acura ARX-01a leads the Acura trio, with Andretti Green Racing in sixth position and Lowe's Fernandez in eighth. Highcroft placed just behind the Penske Porsches and Audis.

"This is a great result for us especially after the week we've had," said Brabham. "We've had a lot of set-up issues this week, but we finally got a great car for qualifying. The good thing that came out of the difficulties is that it has shown us in which direction not to head. We'll look at today's set up, analyze it and see what we want for tomorrow. That's half the battle when you know what you want."

Looking ahead to tomorrow's 1,000 mile challenge, Brabham noted, "It's going to be tight out there with the slower cars, but I've run every class here, including winning in 1999, so I know what I'm up against. I know what it's about here, as does Stefan Johansson. Robbie Kerr is new to it but he has had good opportunities to learn the track and traffic patterns this week. There is such great competition here this weekend that it makes it even more satisfying to be starting fifth. There are a lot of great cars over here from Europe with a lot of speed. All in all, a very satisfying result."
