TRG: High Hopes at Road America

Elkhart Lake, WI -- August 20, 2004 - The two-car Porsche team of The Racer's Group arrived in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin this week, the site of the fan and competitor-favorite Road America 500. The scenic rolling hills and forests of Eastern Wisconsin hold the ultra-high speed Road America course, the scene of TRG's last ALMS podium finish, a 2nd place in 2003 by Cort Wagner and team owner Kevin Buckler. Buckler has moved on from the driving duties of his team, with Patrick Long joining Wagner in the #66 New Century Mortgage/Monster Cable Porsche.

Pierre Ehret will be joined in the #67 Flamingo Resort/TRG Porsche by co-driver Philip Collin for the Road America race. Collin has a long history with TRG, driving with Kevin Buckler starting in 1999. Buckler said, "It's awesome having Philip back on the team. I drove with him as a co-driver for more than a season, and he's been a great competitor and close friend for more than 10 years. We're excited to have him on board."

Collin, of Deerfield, Ill., has been racing for years at Road America, and considers it his home track. "I watched my first auto race here when I was a kid, and a neighbor of mine used to race an old Porsche 917k - I remember watching it start and seeing this huge flame shoot out of the exhaust pipe. I thought 'this racing stuff is awesome!' I've had some great results here at the track, including a 2nd place finish in GT in 2001, and a 4th place last year. I'm very impressed with the mechanical professionalism that TRG demonstrates. Having not driven an RSR before, the team took the time with me this morning to familiarize me with the cockpit layout, sequential gearbox and all the control buttons. I'm thrilled to be here, and am looking forward to a good result."

Cort Wagner said, "The TRG team had really good luck at Road America last year -- it was a great race for us, and fun to beat the factory cars. Kevin [Buckler] always comes here with a great setup and the team is always really well prepared. We have the right equipment to fight for a podium finish, and as usual Patrick will be a rocket around here. I haven't been here too many times, but I think it's a track where it's easy for everyone to go fast, but really hard for anyone to go really fast."

Buckler continued, "I'm happily surprised that Patrick went so fast his first time out at Road America. It's a testament to his skill as a driver and the strengths of the team to come here and put a good car together right out of the box. We've really put our heads down for this weekend, and are looking forward to a strong race and a good finish."

TRG will look to score its first podium finish of 2004 in the Road America 500. The race will be televised live on Speed Channel on Sunday, August 22 at 2pm ET.
