Team CytoSport Muscle Milk squad set for repeat performance at Road America
Muscle Milk RS Spyder on track at MO Benicia, CA (August 13, 2009) - After a stunning podium debut last weekend at Mid-Ohio, the Team CytoSport Muscle Milk squad has its sights set on a repeat performance this weekend at Elkhart Lake's Road America - the longest track on the American Le Mans Series schedule.
The team will be looking to use this weekend's Time Warner Cable Road Race Showcase featuring the American Le Mans Series event to build on last weekend's outstanding performance by drivers Greg Pickett and Klaus Graf. The Muscle Milk duo finished second in the LMP2 class aboard the #6 Porsche RS Spyder.
This will be Team CytoSport's second ALMS start at the 4.048-mile, 14-turn road course. While competing in the LMP1 class, Pickett and Graf captured what was their second in-class podium of the season at Road America in 2007. The former Trans-Am champions, Pickett in 1978 and Graf in 2005, are hoping for a repeat performance of their '07 successes.
What they have to say:
Greg Pickett, Owner / Driver #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder
"I can't wait to drive the Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder at Road America. It's such a fun track to drive and very picturesque as it winds through the countryside. Like a lot of drivers it's one of my favorites and I think driving the RS Spyder there will be quite the experience. I have very fond memories of Road America. I remember going there in the late 70s in my Trans-Am years and having two races in one day and winning them both. And not too long ago in 2007, we finished on the podium for the second time of the season in LMP1. I'd definitely like to try and keep adding to those memories this weekend."
Greg Pickett & Klaus Graf Klaus Graf, Driver #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS
"I think Road America is one of the best tracks in the United States and it's always a lot of fun to compete there. Two years ago we brought our LMP1 car and scored our second podium of the season. So if we can duplicate that same situation this year it would be a perfect scenario for us. Because of the change in some regulations since last year, our competitors will have the edge over the Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder on the straight-aways. That said, it may affect us in qualifying but we have a strong car that is good on fuel economy and there are a lot of corners on the back part of the track so it gives us a good chance in the race to do well and try for another podium finish."
