Panoz young guns kick off JML Team Panoz Road America attack.

The JML Team Panoz 21-year-old "young guns" Gunnar Jeannette and Benjamin Leuenberger made an impressive start in firing the the first shot in practice today for this weekend's Road America 500.

The young duo recorded the fifth fastest time of the day at 1 minute, 58.457 seconds aboard their LMP-01.

The #11 car of was the only Panoz LMP900 class machine to hit the track today.

The sister #10 car of Olivier Beretta and David Saelens sat out the single practice session after the team had to fly in suspension components after discovering a problem while rebuilding the machine following last weekend's Mosport crash.

Beretta and Saelens got their first on-track view of the Road America circuit when they joined Jeannette in taking part in practice for the Tonka Super Truck Celebrity Challenge - a dramatically different machine to their usual Panoz car.

For tomorrow's practice and qualifying sessions, both the #10 and #11 Panoz machines will be back on track.

The JML Team Panoz squad is aiming to improve upon their result from the last round of the championship in Mosport, Canada, where the team finished 2nd and 3rd in class.

Practice continues tomorrow morning at 9.35am for a the first of two one-hour sessions.

Qualifying for the Road America 500 begins at 2.20pm.
