J3 Racing Primed for Road America
Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin - J3 Racing is searching for better results as the team begins practice at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin for round seven of the American Le Mans Series to be run on August 22nd.
Jackson and Sugden, driving the number 79 J3 Motorsport/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, are currently eighth in ALMS GT points following their seventh place finish at Mosport two weeks ago.
Justin Jackson finished ninth at Road America last year, "we had a tough run here last year, for some reason our windshield didn't want to stay in the car. I like the track, the natural setting and undulating layout makes for a challenging drive. You have to balance the car here, it is tricky because you want to take downforce off of the car to get down the straights fast, but then you give up corner speed. You really need a complete car here."
Last weekend Sugden won one race and finished second in the British GT races held at Silverstone. The Leeds, England driver leads that championship by 42 points with two double race weekends to go. "I am hoping to bring some of our good luck here that we had last weekend. I really like Road America so far; the layout of the track and it is the longest we go to this year. I am having fun learning these tracks." In today's first practice session the team is running third behind the factory Porsches and hopes to keep the momentum going over the weekend. "We have found a few little problems that we were suffering from the last two races, so we are hoping to have our most successful race of the year."
The race will be televised live Sunday on Speed Channel starting at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time.
