Flying Lizard Finishes Third and Sixth at Road America 500
Aug. 23, 2004 - ELKHART LAKE, Wis.--Flying Lizard Motorsports extended their podium streak to six in a row yesterday with a third-place GT-class finish at the American Le Mans Series Road America 500. In the two-hour, 45 minute race, the team's No. 45 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR finished third in the GT class and sister car No. 44 finished sixth in class.
In the No. 45 Porsche, Darren Law started eighth on the GT grid. During his hour and fifteen minute stint, he steadily worked his way through the GT field to fourth position, when he handed the Porsche over to co-driver Johannes van Overbeek who finished the race in third in class. Law and van Overbeek are second in GT Class Driver Championship points, three points behind the leader.
Teammate Lonnie Pechnik started the race in the No. 44 Porsche in sixth position. He moved to fourth in GT during his 1 hour, 55-minute stint, when he turned the Porsche over to Seth Neiman, who brought it in to a sixth place GT class finish.
Law commented on the race, "We lost the lead in Drivers' points yesterday, but a sixth consecutive podium finish is something to be proud of, as always, the crew worked hard and it really showed."
Next stop for Flying Lizard Motorsports is Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on September 23-25. The race will be broadcast live on SPEED Channel.
